Set amongst beautiful towering gums and palms with lovely autumn toned trees but yet still only 25 minutes from Melbourne's GPO, we have approximately 60 varieties of bamboo growing and being trialled here at Bamboo Grove with the most suitable ones either available now or in the process of being propagated. From shade loving varieties such as Himalayan Weeper, to the ground cover Pygmy bamboo and the exotic palm - like Ghost bamboo. We can advise you on species choice, positioning and watering requirements, delivery can also be arranged if needed.

SILVER STRIPE BAMBOO - Bambusa multiplex

Description: The culms are characteristically pink when they first appear. A very attractive bushy bamboo with many of the leaves being variegated with a distinctive white stripe, suitable as a screen or it grows well in pots.

SPEEDY SCREEN BAMBOO - Bambusa oldhamii

Description: Oldhamii is a very popular quick growing bamboo with large leaves, it is a terrific as a tall growing screen or wind break. It produces straight culms up to 100mm in diamter that have a timber rating of 4 out of a possible 5 making it suitable for construction, also known as sweet shoot it is a favorite in Asian cooking. A geat looking bamboo in its own right it makes a real statement in the landscape.

Description: Nepalese blue is an attractive bamboo with distinctive blue culms, compact growth and fairly long leaves, easily grown and is quite a quick grower.It is featured best when grown as a specimen plant either in a pot or sheltered part of your garden.

Description: This spectacular palm like bamboo has a whiteish hue over the culms giving it the name "ghost". It makes an outstanding stand alone specimen and requires some space, it has large dark green leaves with an arching shape and is a quick grower.Everyone who sees the "ghost" loves it.

HIMALAYAN WEEPING BAMBOO - Drepanostachyum falcatum

Description:
Himalayan weeping bamboo has an elegant gently cascading form with slender culms, it prefers a cool and shaded position. It will make a nice contrast in a fernery or looks good around a pond, with masses of fine foliage it looks quite stunning, Himalayan weeper does well in a pot and can also be used indoors.

PURPLE JADE BAMBOO - Drepanostachyum Khasianum

Description: A beautiful smaller bamboo with a graceful habit, also known as Khasia bamboo it has a distinctive purplish hue around the nodes with a contrasting white ring. Although similar to Himalayan weeping bamboo it has larger leaves and can tolerate more sun. It makes an outstanding ornamental and can be easily grown in pots.

GIANT BUDDHAS BELLY BAMBOO  - Bambusa vulgaris cv. 'Wamin'

Description:  A somewhat bizarre ornamental with long narrow green leaves featuring large swellings between the nodes that are likened to Buddha's tummy, when left alone the swellings tend to be more pronuced. Buddha makes a very interesting talking point, for best results it should be located in a sheltered position.
